Someone to talk to

I need someone to talk to: where to begin when you feel alone

When you need to talk but do not know who to contact or how to explain what is happening, begin with the part that feels hardest to carry by yourself right now.

TalkToMe is self-guided educational support. It is not therapy, diagnosis or emergency care. If you may be in immediate danger in the UK, call 999 or go to A&E.

You do not need the whole story

Start with one honest sentence: what happened, what keeps repeating in your mind or what you wish somebody understood. A conversation can begin before you have the right words or a clear explanation.

Choose the kind of response you need

You may want listening, reassurance, practical thinking or simple company. Naming that preference can make a conversation feel safer and reduce the disappointment of receiving advice when you only wanted to be heard.

If this feels urgent

If you may be in immediate danger or unable to keep yourself safe, contact emergency or crisis support rather than relying on a self-help conversation. In the UK call 999 or use NHS 111 for urgent mental-health help.

Do not leave this as something you only read. Talk it through and receive one step shaped around today.
